The Number House

Jennifer Dunseath, Proprietor

Jennifer is qualified by experience, with 24 years in the trade. After completing her A levels she left school at 16 and started working as an Office Junior and found she had a knack for figures, logic and the ability to explain financial reports to others in plain english. She progressed rapidly through the accountants departments of several small industries before spending a few years analysing statistics for the Northern Ireland Law Society.

In 1993 she moved to Edinburgh and into the role of Finance Manager for a few SME’s. Along the way she qualified as a Scottish Law Accountant, before going self employed in 1999. This new business offered Accountancy support for various businesses, some still satisfied clients of The Number House. Her hard work and dedication was sought after and her success evolved into The Number House in 2003 where the support of a loyal team has built it into a flourishing business.

Prior to the birth of her baby daughter in Sept 08 Jen’s passions were motorbikes and yacht racing. She is hoping to return to both if she ever gets a good nights sleep!

Ross Blyth, Consultant

Ross is a qualified solicitor with 18 years experience in Corporate Law, 12 of which was as a Corporate Partner with a large City Centre practice. Now a Business Consultant, Ross has a Non-Executive role within The Number House where he has responsibility for developing the business strategy, monitoring performance and reviewing procedures and policies.

In addition Ross works in conjunction with Jennifer in delivering the strategic services to clients where business planning and implementation are part of The Number House remit.

Living in Kinross-shire, Ross commutes to work by motorcycle all year round and is generally only prevented from doing so by wind, ice and snow. In winter it usually takes him a good 15 minutes on arrival to peel off the various layers of weather and safety protection to resemble something close to business attire!

Ros MacIntosh, Management Accountant

Ros brings some maturity to the team since joining the firm early in 2008.  She graduated from Edinburgh University in 1974 with a Commerce degree and went on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 1977 with Deloitte and Co where she also specialised in personal taxation for 2 years.  After a break to bring up twins, Ros returned to a small practice of accountants specialising in the needs of small/medium entities.  She has been known to 'tread the boards' in her spare time as well as enjoying the great outdoors.

Jackie McKay, Management Accountant

Jackie is a qualified Chartered Accountant with 15 years experience of all aspects of accountancy and tax for sole traders through to medium sized companies.  She trained with a small practice in the Borders and then moved to a national practice before joining a large Edinburgh practice, where she was an Associate.

She enjoys working with clients and getting to know their businesses. This knowledge enables her to maximise the support she can give.  She also enjoys training clients on software and general accountancy issues so they can work in-house.  Jackie works part-time for The Number House in addition to looking after two small sons at home.

When Jackie is not number crunching or running after children she enjoys yacht racing with her husband. She has also recently taken up skiing which has inspired her greatly!!

Alan Wilson, Management Accountant

Allan joined the Number House in April 2007 on a part time basis and has over 15 years experience having worked for various small accountancy practices, specialising in all matters of Business Services.
